As an electrical apprentice, you’ll build a strong foundation in core electrical principles, including voltage, current, and power. You’ll develop the ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, perform wiring, and install systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Safety is a central focus of the program, with hands-on training in best practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Apprentices also gain practical experience in troubleshooting, working with industry-standard tools, and operating advanced systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
In addition to technical skills, the program emphasizes effective communication with clients and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the field.
NCCER HVACR Curriculum
The Electrical Apprenticeship Program is a comprehensive four-year training pathway that blends hands-on experience with structured classroom instruction. Apprentices complete 164 hours of Related Technical Instruction (RTI) each year, alongside a total of 8,000 hours of On-the-Job Learning (OJL).
The RTI component follows the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) curriculum, allowing apprentices to earn industry-recognized, stackable credentials at each stage of the program. Training begins with CORE—an introductory module focused on communication skills, employability, basic construction safety, and the proper use of hand and power tools—before advancing through Electrical Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4.
