ABC chapters and training affiliates have 800 apprenticeship, training, safety and management education programs in more than 1,400 locations. ABC members annually invest $1.5 billion in training their workforce.

According to ABC’s Safety Performance Report, ABC STEP Diamond participants were 827% safer than the industry average with an 88% reduction in TRIR rates. ABC is a partner in the Construction Coalition for a Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace.

When ABC signed the Pledge to America’s Workers at the White House in July 2018, it promised to educate and develop at least 500,000 construction workers over the next five years. ABC has already far exceeded that goal with more than 1.1 million course attendees upskilled and educated in 2019 alone.

ABC Philosophy

Associated Builders and Contractors is the voice of the merit shop in the construction industry. We accept the responsibility for making that voice heard. We believe the merit shop movement is a movement for the betterment of the individual, the construction industry and the nation.

ABC is committed to supporting industry efforts to overcome the challenges and maximize the opportunities associated with an increasingly diverse workforce and subcontractor/supplier base.

ABC’s objective is to help shape an industry that is welcoming to all people—where employees and suppliers are limited only by their own potential, clients’ needs are actively served and members receive value for their investment.
